I got the chance to go and see Eric Gadd last week (Thanks for the ticket Anna) with the Bohuslands Big Band at Lorensbergshallen. First of all, what a great venue, never knew it existed!

I have listened to about 5 seconds of Eric Gadd before but got a tip from a LINN customer (cheers Glenn) that he'd seen them in Borås & they were great! YES GREAT!!

Started easy with what felt was everybody finding their feet, the big band, Eric & even the audience. I guess it's always like this when even the hard core fans don't know what to expect from the collaboration. The concert quickly gained momentum and I can 100% confirm now that yes ''you can find 'funk' in Sweden''!

Sound was just great too! When there are so many instruments on stage all playing often half of it is lost in the rumble ... a pet hate of mines! I thought this was the case when I seen two of the band pick up their flutes & start playing, I closed my eyes & there they were ... not bad!

To steal a phrase from the Johnny Cash film ''I don't believe you Mister Cash (Gadd)'' ... but actually whether he feels genuine or not doesn't matter ... great show, great artist, great band & great big band! I got inspired & yes I'm listening to Mr Gadd right now ... waiting for the collaboration record ... if it comes? with Bohuslands Big band! I'm giving the evening a whacking 8:10 ...

My first impression of LINN's NEW Akubarik's

Firstly I am all in favour of compact systems so for me it's a great advantage that they are fully active. Technical information you can get from the designer on the following video link http://vimeo.com/search?q=akubarik I can pick a few points about the design. I don't like blue lights ... I'd hoped it would be smaller to fit more of my customers that have smaller rooms and apartments with neighbours. But actualythey look great, very tidy indeed. A good start and very interesting but how do they perform? The obvious reference systems are Akurate 242 Aktiv with LINN Akurate amps or Klimax 350A's reference speakers. Straight off the Akurate 242's can't compete on the bottom end. The Akubariks deliver controlled base no matter the volume. Whether the 3k array performs better than on aktive 242, I don't know but it's probably quite similar. It is very good. It's all very good and well balanced. Det var länge sen vi besökt LINN fabriken och Jag tycker att det är snart dags! Om ni vill följa med (troligtvis sent April, tidigt i Maj) skulle det bli fint  :)   Anmäl till martin@peoplesandschmidt.com eller ett FB meddelande funkar också. Vill kolla intresse först men redan har en bokade. Vi tar en besök till en Whisky destilleri tycker jag och tar in lita av den berömde Skotska naturen.
