LINN presents George Harrison 7pm Tues 27 Nov @ P&S

Warm welcome tomorrow evening 7pm for the first evening in LINN's new music presentations based on their 24 Bit album releases. Barry Pim from LINN will present with help from myself of course.

The first event will look at George Harrisons influences and of course we will play his own music from this album, available now on LINNrecords.

All the music used on the night (The playlist) will be free to download after the event through a download voucher given out on the night.

EARLY TAKES Volume 1 is a pivotal companion piece to Martin Scorsese's stunning critically acclaimed documentary on the life of George Harrison, "Living in the Material World".
'This Collection of the artist's demos provides an appealing portrait of the ex-Beatle as a working singer-songwriter.' 4 stars The Financial Times
This album is licenced for download from Universal Music Group.
Download includes - cover art
'Terrific.' 4 stars The Sunday Express
'The voice is gentle and lovely and the songs beauties.' 4 starsDaily Express
'There's a simplicity about these previously unreleased demos that's beguiling, allowing the sweeter side of Harrison to shine unencumbered by studio blandishments.' 4 starsThe Independent
'A fascinating insight into Harrison's creative process...a more intimate but still compelling listen.' Music Week
'Early Takes unwraps a treasure trove of George Harrison music.' The Chicago Tribune
The album features a wealth of previously unreleased recordings from Harrison, including early takes of "I'd Have You Anytime" and "Awaiting On You All," plus unheard demo versions of "Behind That Locked Door," "All Things Must Pass," "Run of the Mill" and "My Sweet Lord," all later featured on Harrison's 1970 chart-topping album 'All Things Must Pass'. Other unreleased tracks include demos of "The Light That Has Lighted the World," "Let It Be Me," Bob Dylan's "Mama You've Been on My Mind," and an early take of "Woman Don't You Cry For Me."
'In 2009 I was privileged to be invited by Olivia to listen to tapes that George had stored in his library at Friar Park. In the beautiful setting of George's studio, overlooking the meticulous gardens that he had created, engineer Paul Hicks and I unboxed forgotten reels to hear the music George had left behind. This first collection provides a glimpse of what we found. From early multi-tracks of live takes of My Sweet Lord and All Things Must Pass to more recent tracks like Mama You've Been On My Mind, we hear an intimacy to George's voice and guitar that can only be achieved with live performance devoid of production. I'd like to thank Olivia and Dhani for the honour of being invited into their home to share the work that George gave us all.' Giles Martin

My first impression of LINN's NEW Akubarik's

Firstly I am all in favour of compact systems so for me it's a great advantage that they are fully active. Technical information you can get from the designer on the following video link http://vimeo.com/search?q=akubarik I can pick a few points about the design. I don't like blue lights ... I'd hoped it would be smaller to fit more of my customers that have smaller rooms and apartments with neighbours. But actualythey look great, very tidy indeed. A good start and very interesting but how do they perform? The obvious reference systems are Akurate 242 Aktiv with LINN Akurate amps or Klimax 350A's reference speakers. Straight off the Akurate 242's can't compete on the bottom end. The Akubariks deliver controlled base no matter the volume. Whether the 3k array performs better than on aktive 242, I don't know but it's probably quite similar. It is very good. It's all very good and well balanced. At no point did I experience any issues with frequ...

Linn Katalyst ... New DAC architecture - NEW KLIMAX DS :)

“Shows a clean pair of heels to some of audio’s upper echelon with ease. It might even be the best of all of them … profoundly recommended."   Hi-Fi+ Magazine Our new Katalyst DAC Architecture performs digital-to-analogue conversion with greater precision than ever. Katalyst takes an unprecedented level of control over the critical elements that lie at the heart of the analogue signal’s creation; offering improved Data Optimisation, superior Master Clock, independent Power Supplies, a new ultra-low distortion Output Driver and crucially, for the first time, a high-stability input Reference Level. The latter is vitally important because, at the point of creation, the analogue audio signal is particularly vulnerable even to miniscule variations in the Reference Level, which cause irreversible damage. Katalyst’s high-stability input Reference Level eliminates variations during analogue signal creation, giving you a deeper insight into your music. Read more ......
