Having been quite happy with DbPoweramp, it's been a while since I tried EAC ripping program, which was previously the favoured choice of enthusiasts for ripping CD. Kent came in this morning & suggested it so I gave it a go ...

I ripped 'Tony McManus' (The Bookers mark) to WAV with EAC and compared it to FLAC ripped by DbPoweramp ... hard to say if there was any difference at all ... both sound great. Some issues with meta-data, which shows up on my PC & on EAC but not when I go over to Kinsky but it's Beta & surely easy to fix (maybe a setting).
